Milan fashion week kicked off today with the fall-winter 2011 show from Gucci. WWII silhouettes mixed with 1940s opulence and jetset style to create a truly over-the-top show. YSL-inspired jewel-tones and furs were everywhere, the latter used as scarves, mufflers, coats, jackets, and trim. Heritage accessories made a strong showing as well, but the piece-de-resistence was a flight of sheer evening gowns as the finale... this is a perfect way to be both modest and sexy at next year's black ties. Bravo, Frida, and happy 90th anniversary Gucci!
